In photo 6b, you can see a white dot at the collector plate. Could this be some kind of chemical like ' getter' to keep it vacuum?
I don`t think so. As far as I know, you don`t need a vacuum when manufactoring a transistor, in contrast to the manufacturing of a tube. Perhaps other members of this forum can tell us more?
Hello a vacuum is not needed. But a 'clean' area inside the case. For better temperature leading to outside sometimes is inside heat conducting paste in use.
Alles klar. No vacuum needed, (it could be for preventing or stopping oxidation ) In the pictures glastor 1b 2b you can see the gel like material for heat dissipation. The one with the white stuff (1b) is a newer type, the other semi transparant gel, i have seen in older ones before.
